European Lotteries Appoints New Secretary General

A Seasoned Lottery Veteran Takes the Helm
The EL Executive Committee has chosen Piet Van Baeveghem, a veteran in the lottery industry with nearly 15 years of experience, to lead the organization as the new secretary general. Baeveghem, who has a strong background in the sector, previously worked at Belgium’s National Lottery, where he was actively involved with the European Lotteries for many years.
Having joined the Belgian National Lottery in 2010, Baeveghem has held various roles within the organization, including senior public affairs adviser and domain manager of legal and regulatory affairs. His deep knowledge of the lottery sector and commitment to the EL’s mission make him a perfect fit for the position of secretary general.
Championing Sustainable Gaming
Last year, the European Lotteries unveiled a new manifesto that focuses on promoting sustainability and safer gaming practices among its members. The manifesto acknowledges the evolving landscape of the lottery and gaming industries and emphasizes the importance of accountability among European lottery stakeholders.
The EL urges lottery companies to continue their tradition of contributing to the public good while maintaining their unique role in gaming and society.
