Entain plc Announces Unexpected Changes to Senior Leadership Team
Entain plc, a global sports betting and gaming group, and a FTSE100 company, recently made an unexpected announcement regarding its senior leadership team. The company confirmed on Tuesday that Gavin Isaacs, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO), will be stepping down from his role.
The Search for a New CEO
In July of last year, Entain appointed Isaacs as its new CEO. With a wealth of experience in the gaming and betting industry, Isaacs has held senior positions at companies like DraftKings, Scientific Games, Aristocrat Technologies, and Bally Technologies. He was brought in to replace Jette Nygaard-Andersen, who departed suddenly in December 2023. Stella David, the non-executive chair at the time, served as the interim CEO until Isaacs took over on September 2, 2024.
Now, with Isaacs’ sudden departure, Stella David will once again step in as the interim CEO until a permanent replacement is found, according to Entain.

Stella David, currently Entain’s non-executive Chair, will again assume the role of Chief Executive Officer on an interim basis until a permanent replacement has been found,“ reads a statement released by Entain.
Optimism Despite Market Volatility
Despite recent market volatility that led to a drop in Entain’s stock value, the company and its subsidiary, BetMGM, remain optimistic about their performance. The company reaffirmed its 2024 guidance, with Stella David noting the strong progress made in delivering strategic priorities.
David expressed her delight in the company’s performance in 2024 and since the start of the new year. She mentioned that the FY2024 Group EBITDA is expected to be at the upper end of the guidance range of £1,040m-£1,090m as announced on January 13, 2025.
The interim CEO emphasized Entain’s commitment to enhancing shareholder value and achieving operational excellence. She also thanked Gavin Isaacs for his leadership and efforts during his tenure. Looking ahead, Entain is focused on accelerating its performance in the coming months.
Pierre Bouchut, the senior independent director at Entain, will take on the role of non-executive chair on an interim basis until a permanent CEO is appointed and Stella David returns to her non-executive chair position.
